Optimising safety culture through VR and interactivity
With trends toward online shopping sparking an increase in door to door deliveries, our client was seeing an increase in incidents on properties with unrestrained and unruly dogs. They found their delivery workers were adopting a ‘dog whisperer’ mindset – and not adjusting their behaviours until after they had been involved in an incident themselves. Ouch!
We Are Unity worked with our client to develop a VR safety tool to act as both an interactive learning program and an incident training simulator.
The proposed end results included:
Less safety incidents and more robust incident reporting
Increased training engagement and retention
Reduced training and incident costs
VR training increases average cognitive retention to 80% (up from 30% in a classroom setting).
On average, the commercial impact of VR use leads to a 50% time reduction in training and a 30% reduction in training costs.
VR continues to be an effective driver of practical and immersive learning, and the opportunities for VR to transform the way we train and learn within organisations are endless. Just think of what VR could do for immersive onboarding and recruitment experiences, (particularly in a socially distanced world). With Apple rumoured to release their much anticipated AR glasses as early as next year, the line between digital and reality will continue to blur. Progressive workplaces will be continually looking for ways they can utilise these emerging technologies to enhance the employee experience.
At We Are Unity we have also recently created a virtual demonstration on the power of psychological safety. To find out more get in touch with our team at hello@weareunity.com
