The brief
There’s a huge difference between having a diverse workplace – and unlocking the potential of one. To really create sustainable change, we needed to drive awareness of unconscious bias so that Medibank employees could recognise it. Then, we needed to make them comfortable enough to challenge it in the moment.
Our solution
We started a conversation
Through a raw and emotive film, our cast of real Medibank employees shared their deeply personal stories around work-life balance, sexual preference, and religion.
We continued the conversation
In our second film, an equally diverse cast across all levels of the business shared their own confronting accounts of prejudice at work – but this time, created an open dialogue with viewers by challenging them to call out bias when we see it.
We turned conversation into action
To drive accountability – we started at the top. With the films premiering at Medibank’s Leadership Conference, leaders were then asked to pledge their commitment to creating a workplace where people are free to be themselves, and to speak up against bias in the moment.

All leaders pledged to support diversity in their teams.
Although originally intended to set the scene for internal leadership training, the films were so impactful that Medibank shared them externally and within a week, generated 10,000+ views on LinkedIn.
Medibank has since become recognised as an official WGEA Employer of Choice for Gender Equality.
